Das Faß hat menschliche Maße. Aller Dinge Maß ist der Mensch. Was nicht in sein Faß paßt, läuft über. Das Maß selbst gibt dem, der in seinem Faß steckt, keine Auskunft darüber, ob es dem Gegenstand, den es mißt, angemessen ist. Es ist das Maß des Messenden, er erfaßt nur, was in sein Faß passt. Das Faß ist Rüstung und Resonanzkörper. Die Welt hat sich aufgespalten in innen und außen, äußerlich und wesentlich, Schein und Sein, Lärm und Stille. 
The tub (barrel) has human dimensions. The measure of all things is man. What does not fit into his tub (barrel) overflows. The measure itself does not tell the person in its tub (barrel) whether it is adequate for the object it measures. It is the measure of the measurer, he only grasps what fits into his tub (barrel). The tub (barrel) is armor and resonance body. The world has split into inside and outside, exteriorly and essential, sham and reality, noise and silence.

A barrel holds, grasps, comprehends, interferes, is there, apparently to be empty.

I am urgently looking for my lost barrel and would be grateful for any information. It is unusually small for a barrel, looks more like a tin can and dangles from a fine necklace as a pendant. If that object was open on one side, it could be suitable as a thimble. However, there is only a small, round opening (pouring hole) in the lid plate, in which a delicate eyelet is attached for hanging on the necklace. Shiny golden appearance (see photo!) There is no finder‘s fee, the barrel has no contents. Thanks. D.
